TestFlight App Gets New iOS 27 Features

Apple today updated its TestFlight app for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS to version 4.4.0, adding support for features introduced in the latest software updates and products.

TestFlight for iPhone supports landscape orientation ahead of the iPhone Duo's October launch, though the option is available on all iPhones. TestFlight can now be resized when using iPhone Mirroring on a Mac running macOS 27 with an iPhone running iOS 27.

Apple says the update also includes unspecified stability improvements and bug fixes.

Apple Just Fixed TestFlight

As noted by MacStories editor-in-chief Federico Viticci, TestFlight now shows recent betas by default again for all users.

In July, Apple updated TestFlight with a search field for quickly finding apps that you are beta testing, but some users started to see their apps presented in alphabetical order. It is not entirely clear if this was a bug or an intentional change, but many users did not like it, and TestFlight version 4.3.1 reverses course. The update with the fix is available in the App Store now. The search field remains.

Zwölf Jahre später: TestFlight mit Suchfunktion

I get that this is a very “me and a few of my friends” problem, and search does help, but it’s not enough. The active to inactive beta ratio is so bad that few iPhone screens include more than two or three active betas. So here’s my proposal: Add a toggle in TestFlight’s settings that hides inactive betas.

Ein guter erster Schritt, der keine „me and a few of my friends“-Rechtfertigung benötigt.

Zwölf Jahre werkelt Apple nun an TestFlight.
